2008 is
here and the Southern Region is planning events that we hope will attract
a large number of our members. You will find information in this issue
about upcoming Drive and Dine events. This is an excellent opportunity to
meet other members and enjoy a great meal provided by the Southern
Region.
The
annual National Board meeting was held January in Atlanta. The Southern
Region arranged a tour of Truitt Cathey's car collection. The Board could
not believe this fabulous collection and the wonderful experience of
meeting Mr. Cathey. We received a standing ovation at the board meeting
in appreciation for the tour. I was happy to inform Mr. Cathey that the
Southern Region was giving him a lifetime LCOC membership.
There was
a proposal presented at the meeting to create "open regions" and it
passed. This would be for special interest groups such as Road Race
Lincolns, LS club, Mark VIII, Town Cars etc. This brings more
diversity to the club, without the other groups loosing their identity.
We have a
new national chief judge, John Talbourdet. Also, there will no longer be
a deduction for replacement tires when original tires are not available.
I look forward to seeing large turnouts at our events this year. Let’s
all support the region and show off our wonderful Lincolns!!
